Asbestos Contractor Supervisor Initial and Refresher Courses

The Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor Initial Class is a 40 hour class meeting all EPA and Indiana requirements for employees functioning as a Competent Person during Class I, Class II, and Class III asbestos work . This class is prerequisite to obtaining an Indiana Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor License. Maintenance of the license requires completion of a one day (8 hour) refresher class once a year. These classes are scheduled monthly at our Kalamazoo training facility.

Potential health effects related to asbestos exposure
Employee personal protective equipment.
State-of-the-art work practices.
Personal hygiene.
Additional safety hazards.
Medical monitoring.
Air monitoring.
Relevant federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, procedures, and standards, including:
- TSCA rules on asbestos (40CFR763)
- NESHAPS subparts A and M
- OSHA standards (29CFR1926.1101)
- OSHA standards for respiratory protection programs and medical monitoring mrograms (29CFR1910.134, 29CFR1910.1020).
Insurance and liability issues.
Recordkeeping for asbestos abatement projects.
Supervisory techniques for asbestos abatement activities.
Contract specifications.
Building owner and contractor responsibilities
- Inspection
- Notifications to state
- Licensure of asbestos workers

Two Important things to be aware of if you are interested in takeing this class!

The state of Indiana requires us to provide them with notification to hold class 30 days prior to the first day of class. If you need Indiana training for your employees, please contact us as soon as possible so we can have enough time to notify.

Also, please note that the State of Indiana does have experience requirements before you can be issued a contractor supervisor license. You must have a minimum of 6 months experience working as a licensed asbestos abatement worker in Indiana or 6 months experience working as a licensed asbestos worker or contractor supervisor in another state to qualify to receive approval to become a licensed contractor supervisor.
