Asbestos Building Inspector Initial

 The Asbestos Building Inspector Initial class is a 24 hour class meeting all EPA and Michigan requirements for persons performing inspections for asbestos in school or other buildings.   This class is prerequisite to obtaining a Michigan Asbestos Building Inspector License.  Maintenance of the license requires completion of a half day (4 hour) refresher class once a year.  These  classes are scheduled monthly in our Kalamazoo training facility.

• Understanding building systems  
   
• Public/employee/building occupant relations.  
   
• Pre-inspection planning and review of previous inspection records  
   
• Inspecting for friable and non-friable ACM and assessing the condition of friable ACM.  
   
• Bulk sampling/documentation of asbestos.  
   
• Inspector respiratory protection and personal protective equipment.  
   
• Recordkeeping and writing the inspection report.  
   
• Regulatory review.  
   
• Field trip.

 This course will review the relevant and important information given in the Asbestos Building Inspector Initial training course, to provide any current or up-to-date information regarding any regulatory changes, changes in state-of-the-art work practices, and/or any other changes to the Asbestos Building Inspector discipline.
